Just Another Manic Monday...
Today, my third period entertained me when discussing the StudySync Blast "Looking for Love" in which the idea of love is explored on a literary and psychological level. This is such an important (and often overlooked) aspect to explaining the intensity, exploration, and articulation of the feeling: LOVE. I have to commend StudySync for its use of really applicable links in their research section, where I assigned students to select two links to read and report back to the class in a shared google slide deck. Nothing fancy. Just straight-forward stuff, where many got into the task of decorating and adjusting their message to suit their peers' needs/interests with pop culture references. *Check out my Instastory for footage of these characters. :)
While we did so, I asked students to type a love song in the title by their name. From there we listened to their love songs while we worked and of course, we had a lot of fun making fun of super cheesy 80s/90s songs (why did I not realize how overdramatic these songs are?!) while appreciating the Ella Fitzgerald/Frank Sinatra choices from decades of yore. Such classics! I have such an affinity for these classics, that it made me stop and think of what love was like before technology; love that was expressed in poems, books, letters, and songs. I love technology but it has changed how we express emotion and how we ingest it. What used to be a private love letter between two lovers has now become a public post that must receive likes and comments. Again, I love technology, but I see a change in how the next generation interprets literary love and technological love.
Enough of that stroll down my cerebral cortex, let's explore the love I have for this easy swing dress with classic black and white knit ruffle details. It is a shorter dress than I usually wear to school... I only realized that when stepping onto campus and feeling differently than I had in the dressing room at LOFT, where incidentally this dress is on sale (40% off).
Go snag one for yourself, use the icon below to direct you to LOFT's page.
NOT PICTURED, BUT worth mentioning because they're my favorite Mother's Day gift this year (yes, I know it's next week, but I bought myself a few more necklaces).
